More about Shay.
Ever since I was a child, I could feel the unharmonious energies in a room before I understood what I was feeling — and something in me always wanted to smooth them out, to help everyone around me breathe a little easier. That sensitivity has never left me. It's simply grown into a calling.
As a late teen, I was given the opportunity to attend large life coaching seminars, where I received wisdom for navigating the path toward a joyful, meaningful life. In 2012, I turned to meditation, searching for peace and clarity within myself — and that search has shaped everything since.
Today, my work is about weaving resonant threads between ancient and modern spirituality — tools and technologies old and new — to find real relief for our very modern lives.
In 2015, my conscious learning truly began. As a participant at the East Bay Meditation Center, I entered a deeper spiritual inquiry through teacher Carol Cano's class, Original Medicine: Braiding Buddhist Practice with Indigenous Wisdom. This became the foundation of my practice and my calling toward ancient technologies — aligning my life with the seasons, tapping into Native American indigenous wisdom, and braiding it with Buddhist teaching. From there, I began studying with another teacher, a master of Chinese healing arts who had also trained as a medicine woman within the Shipibo-Conibo lineage of the Amazon rainforest — sparking my interest in plant medicine.
By 2018, the desire to help others heal had grown almost unbearable — I felt I might implode without a physical technique to hold it. That longing led me to my first Reiki training, where I finally found relief: learning the symbols, and feeling for the first time the tangible flow of healing life-force energy moving through my fingertips. Over the following years, I became a certified Master in Usui, Angelic, Holy Fire Karuna, and Animal Reiki. Being able to help my loved ones heal has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
In 2021, I was chosen for the first cohort of Certified Mindfulness Teachers through the Braided Wisdom Leadership Training Program. As we completed the training, we gathered on a sacred mountain for an outdoor retreat. Sitting around the fire, listening to Carol speak wisdom to our hearts, something rose in me that I could not contain. When she opened the circle for comments, I raised my hand — and my voice erupted into sound, vowels, and song. Spirit was singing through me. It was the first time I consciously remember my voice being used as a channel. The transmission was so strong that when I paused to breathe, a hawk circling nearby let out a cry in response, and the entire group gasped.
That moment ignited a new desire — to find a path that would teach me to use my voice for healing. Singing has always been part of me. For the last twenty years, I've sung on and off with a vocal group in the Bay Area, sharing stages with artists like T-Pain, Journey, and Josh Groban. In 2024, I became certified as a Vocal Connection Coach through the Vocal Resonance Method with Larisa Gosla — the training that finally brought my singing voice into deeper resonance with my calling.
That same year, my father passed away, and the grief I felt was unlike anything I had experienced before. It changed me. I left my job as an event planner and sat with my grief, letting it reshape me. Around that time, I met my incredible partner, Xio, who carried years of experience with grief and became my teacher. They showed me how to befriend my grief — tenderly explaining that my tears were welcome, and that they held their own medicine.
The longing returned once more: to seek out ancient medicine so I could fully return to my calling of helping others heal — but this time, I understood that the only way forward was through my own intimate healing first. I found what I was looking for in a Shamanic Energy Medicine training in Chile with the Four Winds Academy. When I set off, I didn't yet know who I would become. I met extraordinary people there and gathered tools, sage wisdom, and techniques for becoming the author of my own story.
Now that I've written down some of the highlights of that story here, I invite you to explore my offerings and see what feels in alignment — so I may support you on your own unique healing path, in this moment.
